Long day in Hong Kong

I have just turned back from a business trip to Hong Kong and discovered a few things:

First, these days world is small as it has never been before. In Hong Kong I met with my old friend. We used to hang around together when we were kids, living next district to each other so we figured a mid-point and were meeting there every day. Now, after all these years to meet, we cross half of the world and that doesn’t seem a long way to go anymore. How many people were going from Turkey and Australia to meet in Hong Kong before, I think not much. Anyway, world is getting smaller, old friendship is never getting over, let’s go back to my impressions.

I ‘m passionate about Asia and I was dreaming to see Hong Kong for last couple of years. I was keen to get a taste of Chinese culture. However, it turned out that looking for Chinese culture in Hong Kong it’s like asking for antiques in a souvenir shop. Most of things which I saw in Hong Kong were created in Hong Kong not long time ago. You may get a slight feeling of China, having a meal in Chinese restaurants, walking through street markets or sailing around with a junk boat. Then again, what strikes you at first –  a business guesting concept of Hong Kong. Beyond all doubt, the city itself is beautiful in its glory: incredible skyscrapers, people from all over the world, most famous sights for movies, shows and trade fairs.

In general, it’s like the world’s best platform for business and investors but for sure it’s not the place appealing to your soul. Well, it may appeal to your wallet and business instincts but not to heart. In Hong Kong, you may explore latest technologies, trends, fashion and whatever it is connected to a global consumption chain.

Summing up, Hong Kong is a stunning city, a cradle for business and innovations but hardy somebody may call it home or welcoming place. Incredible mix of cultures, technologies, brands and money flows – welcome to Hong Kong make yourself comfortable but don’t forget you are a guest here!

P.S. Definitely worth visiting to broaden your mind and get a unique feeling of being in the middle of the world’s business crossroad!

P.P.S. Food was nice and I got a nice Chinese hat!
